roles Discussions
| | | Roles have changed between men and women | | Is it just me or the roles have changed. I'm more of the man and he is more like the woman. The other other night he told me he had a headache, now what's wrong with this picture? He always wants to talk and share feelings. I have talked to other married women and most of them are saying the same thing. What is going on? | |

| | school roles students have to stay in their classroom during the break times | | Although some people believe that students should stay in their own classrooms during break times, I would like to argue that we should be allowed to spend break times in another class. The most important reason for believing that is that many students have friends in other classes. We spend all day in our own classroom, and break times are the only time we have to spend with other friends. It can become very tedious to have to spend even more time with the same people.A further reasom for allowing students to choose where they spend their break times is that it would stop arguements. If students are forced to spend time with classmates who are not good friends, they can annoy each other. This leads to problems that have to be sorted out by teachers. Teachers argue that we all should stay in our own classes, because it is then easier to know that is going on. They say that it is difficult to keep track fo students when they are walking round the corridors. However, students could be given the chance to choose a different classroom to spend the whole break time in. That would mean that there would not be any~~~~~~~~~~ | |
| | early childhood - parents and teachers Roles in Pretend Play | | Parents and teachers generally encourage the fantasy play of young children. They build playhouses or buy heavy cardboard models. They make available the paraphernaila that encourages make beleive play, including jewelly, all kinds of hats, ribbons, ties, scarves, adult shoes,l handbags, whisties, keys assorted constumes, and dress-up accessories. Fantasy play is further enhanced by adult stimulation: playing at the seashore, exploring a forest, riding in a bus, car, train, visiting the community post office, bank, shoe repair shop. | |
| | good cop/bad cop roles in disciplining a child | | I understand that most parents play "good cop, bad cop" roles when disciplining their children. Couples does not necessarily assign roles to each other. They just take on whichever role as they see fit for a certain situation/scenario. But what do you do if your spouse/partner always assumes the "good cop" role, leaving you to always be the "bad cop"?You see, when it comes to disciplining our daughter, I am more of the disciplinarian between my husband and I. But whenever I say 'NO' to something our daughter wants (for example, when it's already bedtime and she insists on playing or watching tv), it's my husband who easily gives in. So now, since my daughter knows that she can easily get what she wants through her dad, she always seeks him when I disagree with her. I always end up being the "bad cop". How do I deal with this? | |
| | Reversal of Roles | | Barbara Walters did a story on gender roles in kuwait several years before the gulf war.she noted then that the women customarily walked about 10 feets behind thire husbands.
she returned to kuwait recently and abserved that the men now walked several yards behind thire wives.
ms. walters approached one of women and said:this is marvelous, can you tell me and the free world just enabled women here achieve this marvelous reversal of Roles?

| | Life Roles/ What do you want to be... | | My brother asked me: "what do you want to be when you grow up?" (meaning what are the titles that I want to have, roles that I come closer to accomplishing...) He said something along the lines of "I want to be an artist-video game designer-marine biologist-traveler-martial artist and multi-lingual .I am sure he came up with more actually. Why don't we all dream greater dreams? Where are our ambitions? I responded something like: "I want to be a linguist-writer-researcher-editor-librarian-freelancer-dance performer." What is a line some self-descriptions you desire to create? Do you feel ambitious in general? How do you think society could be changed and/or improved to help people accomplish multiple goals instead of fighting a battle between indecision and monotony/entrapment? | |
